Agape (pronounced ah-gah-pay) is a Greek word for love, not romantic love or erotic love, but the kind of love that is universal for all humanity. For me, agape is about nonviolence, reconciliation, and deep peace rooted in justice.
I carved "agape" by hand into this piece of figured maple because it is a word worth carving. This piece can be wall-mounted (there's a hanging slot routed into the back), or you can display it on a shelf, mantle, desk, etc. It is finished with polyurethane and wax, and is polished to a smoothness that will entice your fingers to caress it.
